Makeup Starter Products

I wanted to do a post for beginners of makeup. It's massive confusing world, especially if the shops are anything to go by, just aisles of products and brands. Now while your dipping your foot into this world it is important to understand your skin type and tone. Confusing yes but it defiantly helps with choosing the most effective products that are going to work for you.  My post for this is here.

Without further ado, here are the top products I recommend (and have) to those who 1: just want the bare basics, 2: maybe would like to extend into makeup more in the future.

Powder
While this is suited for all skin types apart from dry, powder is perfect as it adds that hint of coverage on the face. Young girls in my opinion have the most beautiful skin and masking it with yucky nasty makeup ingredients will only do it harm and not let the skin breathe. The pressed powder variety is perfect as it's easier to work with in application and degree of coverage. Covergirl, Maybelline and Rimmel are my brand picks.

Concealer
Great for covering the first signs of a redness in the skin (nose)  and in blemishes. While a lot of product isn't going to be needed it does help to build confidence in you and your makeup ability. There are heaps of variety but the best one if the liquid concealers with either a doe foot sponge or brush applicator as they last longer, don't dry out and are easy to blend with your fingers into the skin.

The right shade for you should match your skin pretty closely. If in doubt go with the lighter shade as this noticeable then a darker shade on your skin. All you need to do is dab a small amount on the blemish or redness and softly tap with your ring finger around the outside of the area. Be careful not to use the same shade under your eyes as this has a different undertone. Liquid products are applied before powder products.

Covergirl and Maybelline are my brand picks.

Blush
This product is great for adding natural colour to the face. It's also the gateway to bronzer and highlighter. A sheer sweep of natural blush to young complexions enhances the youthfulness without being obvious to school teachers. Different brands have different degree of pigmentation but my brand picks tend to lean sheer so mastering the technique of blush application isn't that all necessary.

The key to remember is to use a light hand when applying and start with a small amount. It's easier to build colour then to remove it. Maybelline and Rimmel are my brand picks.

Mascara
This is great to define your eyes. There are many varieties of mascaras such as length, volume, curl etc but the one for beginners is natural definition mascaras. These won't offer much curl but the aim is for you and teachers to get used to wearing mascara and also applying it . There is clear versions available. Once you get more experienced and older, mascara opens the way into eyeliner and brow products. Covergirl and Maybelline are my brand picks.

I hope this helps, any other suggestions please leave them below!
