Tigi Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo

Image
Packaging: Metal can with soft black packaging and a lime green cap. The black packaging is accompanied by silver text. The spray nozzle is a little larger then normal but the spray is very concentrated and fast. By this I mean a lot is sprayed out with a little pressure. The size of the can is palm sized so it's perfect for travelling and also durable. It's 87ml which means it's both domestic and international carry on approved. Smell/Taste: Cherry. Reminds me of the horrible cherry cough syrup I had when I was a kid. Colour: Clear but in a concentrated form it's white. Formula/ Texture: This works perfectly in freshing up second and third day hair. I took this for a four day trip, used it three times and there is half left. So small can but is handy for short trips. I mentioned this in packaging but the spray is concentrated and pressurised so the powder comes out fast. So with a normal pressure on the nozzle a lot comes out, leaving...

Garnier Pure Volume Dry Shampoo

Image
Packaging: Lime green aerosol can with tinted cap. It has pink and white accent writing. The spray is fine. Honestly I thought that this can looked small when I saw it. Feeling the weight it as if there wasn't an adequate amount of product. Smell: Citrus which reminds me of their other products. Colour: None. Formula/ Texture: In my opinion this is the same formula wise like every other dry shampoo out there. On the can it says that this is silicone and colorant free. Im not 100% sure what that means, but I'm guessing it won't make your hair feel slippery like the silicone in primers do, nor extra chemicals on the hair that aren't needed. On the dry shampoo factor, yes this does work. My hair feels refreshed and doesn't look greasy. I do feel that I have to spray more of this on as compared to others I've tried but that may be due to the finer mist spray? My hair doesn't get that greasy or dirty looking at all but I have noticed...

Moroccan Oil Hair Treatment

Image
After hearing and reading rave reviews for this and putting off buying it due to the price, I decided to just bite the bullet and brought the small size. If this stuff is worth it my hair will thank me later. Packaging: Brown stained lass bottle with screw cap. The screw cap isn't that string as mine has split so regardless I have to keep it stored upright. That or I'm too strong tightening the lid. I've travelled across country and the bottle hasn't been any trouble. The larger sizes have the same packaging with a pump lid which I think would be so much more beneficial in controlling the product. There is some oil spill around the opening. Smell: Perfume but sort of woody scent which I found to be pleasant. Colour: Yellow. Formula/ Texture: This is a thick oil which is non greasy. I do feel it would suit all hair types however there is a light version for more coloured (blonde) and fine hair. It doesn't leave any marks on c...

Schwarzkopf Curl Flex Mousse

Image
Packaging: Metal can with a blue dispenser and a clear blue cap. Smell: None. Colour: White foam that absorbs clear. Texture/ Formula: This foam is lightweight and non greasy.  There is a trick to using this mousse- you have to shake the can very  well! Otherwise yes you will get mousse but it won't be enough to hold the curl in your hair. Also you need to dispense more product then you would normally dispense for other hair products and smother throughout your hair. There's no film left on clothes or pillows. In the few times I have used it, I haven't dispensed enough product and this has meant that my curls fall out within the hour and I do my hair the same way. I use the mousse on damp hair, blow dry it, then curl it. I don't feel the following claims are true for me on my naturally wavy hair- long lasting...

Schwarzopf Taft Guardian Angel Straightening Iron Spray

Image
Packaging: Hard plastic skinny hourglass bottle. The spray nozzle is red with a clear cap which surprisingly stays on during travel. The outside packaging has a black design with a light floral along the bottle. The spray is light and wide so you have to get close to the hair to get product onto it. The pump isn't hard to use nor does it get stuck when spraying multiple times. Smell: Floral, which reminds me of a nice spring perfume. Formula: This is simply a liquid. The bottle indicates that the heat protection lasts up to 220 degrees celsius but I'm not sure how to test thermal protection. It does make my hair feel nice and replenished and not dry and brittle. I've also notice that it leaves a nice gloss finish and smooth to the touch. Not much product is needed to coat the whole head, even on my long hair. It defiantly guards the hair against heat styling products. I don't feel like the Tresemme thermal protectant does quite the same ...

Lee Stafford Argan Oil

Image
Packaging: The bottle is a palm sized plastic orange bottle, with a pink pump and cap. It comes boxed in a matching box. Smell: Floral, nice bunch of rose/ vanilla/ jasmine flowers. Colour: The oil is a clear liquid. Texture/ Formula: This is a runny but lightweight oil. It's not greasy and doesn't transfer anything onto clothes or pillows. I't as soon as you have pumped enough oil onto your hands I would suggest that you put it on your hair straight away. It says on the bottle that it contains a Pro-Argan complex which I gathered helps to nourish the hair. It helps to enrich the hair's natural shine. I use it on damp hair, not soaking wet and it gives the smoothest, silkiest and shiniest hair when it dries. There's no fake film or gloss feeling on the hair. It really has improved the healthiness of my hair, especially the ends where for me t...

Lee Stafford Poker Straight Dehumidifier

Image
Packaging: Metal pink can with a tinted pink clear cap. The spray nozzle is wide and generous so that it makes spraying the dehumidifier easier. The nozzle sprays a wide distance but at a soft harshness. Smell: Fruity. Colour: None. Texture/ Formula: The spray is fine, lightweight, not crunchy feeling on the hair or sticky. A sheen is left on the area that ha ben sprayed. It washes out easily and doesn't leave any type of film or mark on clothes or pillows. My hair naturally has a wave to it and gets a bit fizzy during humid weather. This keeps my hair from frizzing in summer- even when I curl my hair. The curls don't seem to droop as much or as quickly as they do when I don't use the dehumidifier. It's weird I didn't expect it to work as what it said it would. I got this in the tester size as a free product with purchase. Otherwise I wouldn't have even thought...

John Frieda Full Repair Full Body Shampoo & Conditioner

Image
Packaging: Both come in red squeeze tubes with clear lids. On  the back of the tubes they have labelled the corrosponding 'shampoo' or 'conditioner' as shown in the pic above. I think this is genius seeing s they both look the same and when your in the shower you don't want to spend ages fumbling around trying to figure out with tube is the one you want but having them backwards and the big clear writing helps to easily grab the tube you want. Smell: Flowery/ floral. Colour: Shampoo: Pearl white Conditioner: White Texture/ Formula: Shampoo & conditioner felt no different to the normal formula of other brands. These are enriched with inca inchi oil (omega 3) which when it penetrates dry damaged hair, it repairs the look and feel of it. So this line repairs damaged dry hair due to frequent heat styling and colouring, detangles hair and adds body for full, flo...

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Thermal

Image
Packaging: Palm sized plastic orange tinted bottle that is pretty slim and tiny. The top is a large pump dispenser that when twisted opens and closes, which means it can be perfect for travel. Smell: Fresh and fruity. Colour: Clear. Texture/ Formula: Runny consistency but thicker than water and a tad sticky. It's lightweight and easily absorbed and applied to the hair. My hair length is mid chest and for that length I need more than a pee sized amount to do my whole hair concentrating the thermal serum mid length to ends than the remainder on the top of my head as to not weigh my hair down. It did protect against thermal products very well. I didn't notice any difference for UV exposure or against colour fading. My hair did feel more smoother and softer than when I use the thermal spray protectant by Tresemme but I didn't notice it being shinier. I enjoyed this, though I do feel...

Tresemme Freeze Hold Hairspray

Image
Packaging: Metal can with a tinted clear black cap. It is large in terms of height and circumference and because of this I find it a little difficult to store. The nozzle is a push down spray, which can get clogged if the can is held up and sprayed on top of the nozzle rather than straight out. However the nozzle does spray evenly and lightly. Smell: Like all Tresemme products, nice flowerly with a slight hint of alcohol. Colour: Clear liquid, no tint to it. Texture/ Formula: Not sticky, fast drying on hair, not stiff on the hair unless spray really extreme up close to the hair nor does the hairspray feel as though it's building up. A good thing about this formula is that the hairspray is gone when the hair is brushed. It doesn't leave any white flakes. The hold lasts a long time as it has gribbing polymers. It will wash out including getting soaked. It has a 24hr climate control including hum...

Tresemme 24 Hour Body Root Boosting Spray

Image
Packaging: Plastic bottle with pink push spray nozzle. The nozzle is concentrated so the product targets specific area on the head & not a larger area where the product isn't wanted. It comes with a plastic cap that fits over the nozzle preventing any accidental spray or wastage. The bottle is shaped in a way that can be identified with the outline of a body, which would tie in with the 'body' wording in the product name. Smell: Citrus, fruity/ flowery. Which is unimous across all Tresemme products. Colour: Clear liquid. Texture/ Formula: Spray that is concentrated and not very wide which is good for getting right in at the roots. The liquid isn't sticky at all unlike their curl control spray and contains a volume control complex which helps in obtaining volume. It's a light formula and doesn't seem to weigh my hair down. Tresemme claim that this lasts all day and night, hence the '24hr' wo...

Joico K-PAK Color Therapy Restorative Styling Oil

Image
Packaging: Frosted brown tint solid plastic bottle with a maroon pump dispenser which gets out oil quickly and controlled. Smell: Pleasant slight flower smell. Colour: Clear with a slight brown tint. Texture/ Formula: It's a very runny and smooth texture that applies easily and doesn't leave any residue or on the hands nor does this transfer to clothes or your pillow. My hair felt so nice, smooth and restored! Not a greasy feeling but just that nice and luxurious and the ends of my hair feel stronger. I really like how it makes my hair so much healthier!! Not only that it makes my hair shine and smooth. I've also noticed that it cuts the drying time of wet hair too. A really good styling oil that can also be used on dry hair sparingly to tame fly aways. Available: From Priceline, selected hair salons and stores for $27 for 100ml.

John Frieda Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating for Darker Shades Shampoo & Conditioner

Image
Packaging: Both come in squeeze tubes with bottom caps. The shampoo has a glitter tinted plastic bottle which is good as you can see how much product is left. The conditioner tube tinted in a shiny opaque gold. Smell: Citrus, green & fresh with floral undertones. Colour: Shampoo is a light yellow colour while the conditioner is white. Texture/Formula: The shampoo is a runny gel like consistency while the conditioner is thicker and more of a cream consistency. This highlight activating range is supposed to highlight the blonde colour already in the hair without depositing any colour. The formula has honey and oatmeal extracts that help with the max blonde impact. Also according to the John Frieda website "gently removes dulling build-up & residues that make blonde look dull & dark". Well I can say using this shampoo & conditioner did enhance my blonde tips in my hair that is still growing out from when I had been a dyed blonde 2 ye...

Pantene Pro-V Leave In Hair Moisturiser Daily Moisture Renewal

Packaging: Sleek matte finish cream bottle with a twist open pointed tip dispenser. The bottle isn't see through which does make it difficult when determing how much is left but nothing that unscrewing the cap won't solve. Smell: It smells like flowers/ moonflower/ vanilla/ lillies. Texture/ Colour: Its a white, smooth cream. It's easy to apply by rubbing it in the palm of the hands and then onto the ends. I have noticed that if you apply too much product then the hair becomes stiff when it dries. It has a lightweight formula that doesn't feel oily on my hair. This is my first leave in conditioner product. It tames flyaways, hydrates and protects dry/damaged hair which is why I use it to replenish any moisture lost through daily straightening. It makes my hair feel smooth, soft and silky. I am pretty impressed with the results and want to try more. It's great for the time poor woman. Available: From Priceline, pharmacies and discount depa...

Tresemme Smoothing Creme

Image
I wanted to try a smoothing product for my hair. Something that would add shine. I was near the shelf where all the Tresemme products were and saw this and thought it'll be a great product to try, because lets face it who doesn't love Tresemme? :-) Packaging: It comes in a small palm sized white plastic bottle and a black press top lid. Smell: OH MY GODNESS!! This stuff smells so delish and yummy. I can't quite accurately describe it but it smells like a heavenily light scent. Nothing strong of floral but im thinking more along the lines of a lily/frangipani flower smell. If you smell it you'll know what I mean. Colour: White. Texture/Formula: It's a light smooth, creme consistency. It absorbs quickly into the hair. This smoothing creme works best when small amounts, say walnut sized are used rather than a big glob. If too much is applied than the hair can feel overly smooth and oily. On damp towel dried hair, rub a walnut sized ...

Tresemme Heat Defence Styling Spray & Curl Activator Spray

Image
Packaging: The heat defence styling spray has a trigger handle, where as the curling activator spray has a more targeted nozzle but is in a push down spray. Both come in a black bottle. Smell: Citrus. Texture/Formula The Heat Defence Styling Spray can be used for every type of heat appliance-blow dryer, straightener, crimper, curler-and I find that it's a really good product. Distrubtes the product evenly, the mist is nice and fine, the way my hair is left nice and soft and smooth. Defiantly repurchasing this again. The Curl Activator is a little sticky in the texture and the mist thicker. When I spray it the product doesn't squirt far and some droplets end up falling down the bottle. Honestly this dissapoints me. It lets down the percevied effectiveness of Tresemme's products. Curling wise however I've noticed that the curls last longer in my hair, so they don't fall out as quick. Not sure this is a good product purely of the spray. Avai...

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Creme Serum Overnight Repair Formula

Image
I noticed that my hair had split ends, not matter how often I looked at them and trimmed them. This scared me that even though I wasn't using any heat on my hair it was still splitting and this got me worried. I saw that this would be absolutely perfect for my problem, something that could hydrate my ends whilst I sleep so I don't have to wait to wash it out .   Packaging: An oval shaped, dark blue plastic bottle, with a clear lid. The outside has a smooth shiny finish to it. It fits comfortably in the hand. The dispenser is also a clear pump dispenser which doesn't have a strong squirt so it's easy to control the amount of product. Smell: Moonflower/ Orchids. Heavenly in other words. Colour: White. Texture/Formula: It's a gel consistency, that is smooth, lightweight and absorbs easily into the hair.  It doesn't make my roots any more greasy or look greasy. There's no film left on my pillow either. I don't...

Batiste Dry Shampoo Blush

Image
This UK brand of dry shampoo is in the fragrance "blush". The only difference it has from the original apart from an awesome pink packaging can with a green cap is that it has delicate fragrance. And yes as that's why I picked it up as my  Lee Stafford Poker Straight Dry Shampoo  was feeling a little empty. Packaging: Pink tropical floral print  aerosol  can with a green cap. The cap is a tad hard to get off but the can fits comfortably in the palm of the hand. The spray nozzle hasn't clogged in my experience and shoots a comfortable strong mist at an average width. Smell: Very subtle but a little florally and feminine. Texture/Formula: Like with other dry shampoos that I've tried if sprayed too close to the  hair, it  does leave a white mist rubbed in to work. It's easy and quick to rub or brush in. There's no residue,  greasy feeling and it feels  dry . It does an awesome job of refreshing the hair, removing any greas...

Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo for Oily/Straight to Normal Hair

Image
Packaging: Sleek, tall, shiny black casing with a yellow-greenish cap that complements the writing on the bottle. The spray nozzle is also black. Smell: Citrus. Colour: Goes on white but dissapears when brushed out. Texture/Formula: The dry shampoo is like a hairspray mist. When the dry shampoo is brushed out, the hair can feel a little gritty but still look freshly washed. This is the first dry shampoo that I've encountered where its best to brush the hair to get rid of the dry shampoo as opposed to using your fingers and scruff the hair.  Honestly this doesn't work for me. It still leaves my hair looking oily. I've tried brushing, using my fingers, waiting the recommended 2 minutes, not waiting, holding the can close and far from head, all to no avail. It just doesn't seem to work for me no matter how I use it. I really want to love it Im just hoping that I've got a defect can and that another can will work wonders for me. Availa...

Sunsilk Frizz Control Curl Definition

Image
Packaging: The plastic tube is silver with a blue cap and accent. The product is dispensed through the standard squeeze tube that can be easily cut to get the remaining product out. Smell: It smells fresh and rejuvenating and with a hint of citrus. Colour: Clear. Texture/Formula: Gel like product is thick and goopy. It contains aloe vera nutri-serum known for it's soothing properties. It does provide definition to the curls but I feel as though it weighs the hair down and the natural curls drop. It does reduce frizz, however I haven't noticed it lasting 24hrs. You're supposed to apply this on towel dried hair and then either let your hair air dry or use a hair dryer to what I can assume 'activate' the balm. I've done both and there hasn't seemed to be a difference in the way my natural curls are defined. I have used this the night before going out where I would use a curing iron to make more defined curls. This didn't make ...
