NARS Sheer Matte Foundation

Packaging:
This comes in the standard NARS packaging which is a little case of black corrugated cardboard and then in a NARS cardboard packaged black box. The bottle is a square frosted glass shape with a black velvet matte screw off lid. The opening of the foundation is quite large so the amount of product that is dispensed varies depending on the force used to tip the bottle up. Therefore I do strongly recommend using caution. A pump nozzle would be so much better for this product and I know NARS sell this separately online but in terms of ease of use it would make the foundation packaging that much easier to work with.

Texture/ Formula:
It's a smooth and thin consistency. It's easy to apply either with fingers or a brush but the colour does set fairly quickly so you have to blend in quickly. It is easy to remove with a basic makeup wipe and feels very lightweight on. I haven't noticed any oxidisation, skin irritation or white cast in photos.
You don't need a lot to get good coverage. It's just enough to cover minor imperfections and blemishes but yet still breathable for the skin. I didn't notice extremely large pores.
For my combination skin, I need oil free products which this foundation is and again I have had no breakouts. I should also mention that it's fragrance free, non-comedogenic and dermatologist tested, so it's only going to do good for your skin. I know it's not marketed to be hydrating but I certainly do feel this in my skin. It just feels so smooth after the foundation has been removed and a few weeks of continuous wear. I've not had any dry patches when I've worn this so I don't know if this would catch on those areas but being a lightweight formula I wouldn't say that it would.
Even with the matte finish, I don't feel like a setting power is needed. Not even during summer. I don't find that I get shiny towards the end of the day either. If anything it gives some dimension to the skin, making it look like second skin! These are something that I love about this foundation. Using a primer, it's longevity is amazing, lasting 12hrs!

If you are after a heavy duty, thick, full coverage foundation then I don't recommend Sheer Matte. This is now my new high end holy grail foundation. Yes it is pricey for the ml's but not only does it make your skin look good, it's doing good of your skin. everyone will love this. If they don't they probably haven't found their correct shade.
Available:
From Mecca Cosmetica stores or online at meccacosmetica.com.au for $68 for 30ml/1fl.oz. I got mine in America from Sephora for US$42.
