Make Up For Ever HD Complexion Starter Kit
I brought this starter kit as I was keen to try out these products and at the very most the HD foundation as I had heard good things being said about it. I thought that there would be no better way to see what I like and what may be a possible repurchase. I brought this kit online from the US site Sephora for $75 which is extremely good value considering the value of the products inside.
This starter kit contains 15ml/0.5 fl.oz. Primer (sample size), 30ml/1.fl.oz Foundation (full size) & 5g/ 0.17oz Powder (sample size).
HD Microperfecting Primer
Packaging:
Soft matte frosted squeeze tube with matte black twist off lid and a small fine tip.
Smell:
None.
Colour:
Clear.

Texture/ Formula:
This primer is a runny, thin, smooth cream with a natural finish. It is easily applied by using your hands and is quickly absorbed into the skin. What I love about this primer is that it feels lightweight on my face and has a oil free formula.
I've had no irritations, breakouts or sensitivity using this primer.
I feel like it does a good job at griping the foundation onto my skin, getting an extra 4-5 hours extended wear out of my face makeup. I have noticed that it does minimise the appearance of my pores. You don't need a whole lot of this to adequately cover the face. I use the same amount as I normally would for face products. It doesn't enhance or reduce the natural shine on my face even through out the day.

HD Invisible Cover Foundation

Packaging:
Smooth round tube with the bottom half a hard clear shiny plastic and the top half is a hard black shiny plastic with a pump. The pump isn't stiff, doesn't squirt the product a million meter away but works perfectly in dispensing the average amount per pump.
Smell:
None.
Colour:
#117 Marble - light beige with yellow undertones and a satin finish.
Available in 25 shades.
This is more for those who are cool undertoned as the yellow counteracts this. I do feel as though this colour blends into my natural colour round my jawline and gives me that natural look.

Texture/ Formula:

I use two pumps and I feel as though that this adequately provides me with the perfect amount of foundation to cover my face. I do note you have to shake this foundation very well before use to mix up the colour right. The coverage of the foundation is medium to sheer but is very lightweight and a thin formula.
This foundation is easy to apply and blends easy and I think that's due to it's thinner texture so a brush, sponge or hands will work best to apply this foundation.
Using a primer this is very long-lasting of 12hours + and is more of a sheer full coverage foundation. In saying that it does remove easily and best part is lightweight I do forget that this is in comparison to the Revlon Colorstay foundation that feels a little bit more heavier (but is defiantly more opaque and long wearing).
This foundation has a satin finish were it does minimise shine but still provides a nice luminous look on the skin. Don't get me wrong there is no glitter in this foundation but it's the nice finish that makes the makes the skin look healthy and doesn't really need to be powdered.
I love this foundation. I love the coverage yet still a luminous natural looking finish. It is easy to apply and blend. No doubt I will be re-purchasing this foundation as well as recommending it to friends.

HD Microfinish Powder

Packaging:
Clear plastic container with a shiny black screw lid. There is 3 little holes in the sifter which isn't enough to get a decent amount of powder out but I understand that it is a sample but it is a little bit of a hassle banging the bottom of the container out to get the powder out.
Smell:
None.
Colour:
White in high density such as in the container but translucent when sheered out. The picture bottom right shows a matte part of my hand where the powder has been rubbed in, as compared with the top left corner where the powder wasn't applied. You can see how the lines on my hand aren't as visible and my skin looks more flawless? Yeah this is the magic of this powder :)

Texture/ Formula:
The powder is fine milled that has mineral silica in it so it has that feel. On my skin the powder is soft n smooth. It doesn't cake my foundation but leaves a nice subtle matte finish. Using the kabuki is the best way to apply the powder especially since the width fits in the container. It is a soft yet firm dense nylon brush with a stubbed handle. So soft and good to puff the powder in.
In terms of mattifying I feel as though it does an average job of keeping shine at bay.
Too much of this powder can leave that white powder mask over the face. There is one thing that I don't like about this powder which is the reason why I wont be re-purcahsing nor recommending. The silica feeling.
I haven't had a powder with this in it yet as far as my memory serves and it is unlike MAC Mineralise Skin Finish Natural. The silica is very silky and I feel that this powder sits ontop of my face and doesn't blend in. So for example when I lean my face on my hand I feel the silky powder and it feels weird. I guess very unnatural feeling. And if thats what I feel, imagine what it looks like, even though I think that I've blended it in well?
I know some people love it but I just can't and I'm glad I got the sample to try. Available only from Sephora stores, sephora.com for US$79.
