Universal Travel Outfit | Travel Tips
Welcome to my Travel Tip Series. I wanted to create a series of tips and ideas that'll suit anyone, any time of the year, on any budget, for any length of time away on holiday.
I'd admit it seems 'odd' that there is wrong outfit to wear travelling, but you'll be surprised at what some people wear. Some dress as though they are walking down the runway of a fashion parade whilst others in Ugg boots as though they are ready for bed!!
My first tip is to consider the weather and your plans when you arrive at your destination. A lightweight cardian is easier to translate into the opposite weather and to transport around compared to a jacket and will be sufficient for the short time not indoors.

Whether you are flying for 8 hours or taking a 3 hour road trip the important key is comfort. Wear clothes that are comfortable and aren't restricting. This can be done in layers. Cardigan over long sleeve shirt over singlet with a scarf using your more stylish pieces. These pieces are lightweight can be removed/ added as required with no extra stress on you.
This is the best opportunity to wear your chunkiest items to save more room in your carry on or checked luggage. Keeping the weather in mind, women may want to wear wedges or boots and a knitted top/ cardigan and men may want to wear their chunky sneakers or best dress shoes and jacket. Though I know wedges for example may not be everyones cup of tea.
Universal Outfit
- Tshirt or tank
- Lightweight long sleeved cardigan or knit or button down
- Comfortable walking shoes such as easy slip ons (both), short or long boots, ballet flats or easy slip on sandals
- Long scarf - adds warmth, can be a blanket or cover up pillow, eye mask etc
- Hair- I assume a lot of men have short hair, so for women a style that is pinned away from the face in an easy to maintain style. A ponytail or bun are classic examples
- Accessories- up to the individual. Remember the more metal worn, such as belts, is more that has to be removed when going through security. If it's valuable that you can't afford to loose, leave it at home
- Makeup- minimal, your skin needs to breathe. You can always apply makeup 45 minutes from landing

Adjust the above key elements to suit your style and wardrobe and you'll be set for your trip.
