Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer

Image
Packaging: Clear plastic bottle and cap with a black pump. The thing I like about the packaging is that you can see how much you have used/ have left. Also the pump allows you to control how much product you want by how much pressure you apply. It feels a little heavy but sturdy enough to not have to worry about the bottle cracking. Smell: Funny, like off melted plastic. Colour: Very light pink but blends out clear. There is two colours so far in the primer area, this one and the colour correcting primer. It has a matte finish. Texture/ Formula: It's a thickish cream formula. It's easily applied using fingers and absorbed. I haven't experience any breakouts, sensitivity or irritation.  It is also oil, talc, fragrance and paraben free. It feels lightweight on the skin. This primer's special ability is that it smooths an...

MAC Fix+ Spray

Image
I have been hearing a lot about this product for setting makeup which wasn't something I think wouldn't have worked or just a gimmick product, so I was curious to give it a go and see the result and compare it against the Australias Makeup Setting Spray. Packaging: The Fix+ comes in a tall, skinny spray bottle. The container is frosted while the cap is a round circular lid that twists open and shut, perfect for travelling. I like the nozzle as well. the way you can easily tell if the lid is open or closed. The spray from the nozzle was a little more concentrated in terms of direction width. So the spray didn't spread over a wide area. This does take some time to get used to, but I suggest to spray small sections of the face at a time but not so close to the face so more area of the face is covered. Overall the packaging is simple, practical with sleek lines. Smell: Fresh with Sugi that is known for it's energising propertites. Colour: Cl...

MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer

Image
Packaging: This concealer comes in a glass jar with a matte black screw top lid. The only thing that I can find against this packaging is that foundation messy hands transfers onto the lid making it look messy and not new and dirty. Just a little thing, I like my things to at least look clean. The bottom of the jar has the product name and shade number. The jar is a handy inside palm size that is a little heavier than the average concealer but thats the glass jar. Smell: None. Colour: NC20. Full coverage with a matte finish. NC is yellow based which neutralises red undertone in the skin, which is good for blemishes. I spent a lot of time debating between what colour to get to best my match skin tone and I finally decided on this one. Honestly I was scared that this colour was too yellow when I first laid eyes on it in the jar but it blends well into the skin. There is a range of ...

Sara Happ Lip Scrub

Image
Packaging: The scrub comes in this bright pink sturdy box with a white ribbon on it and with the simple words in white text that contrast nicely against the box 'Sara Happ Lip Scrub'. Inside the box is the scrub which comes in a round clear container with a clear screw top lid. The info with how to use the scrub and ingredients are on the label around the container. Smell: Grapefruit/ fairy floss sugar combo. It's the kind of smell that you stick your nose into the jar and you just want to eat it! Sounds weird but no seriously so yummy!. Colour: Pink! I couldn't think of a better colour ;) It does come in 2 other flavours/ colours but I know this one Sparkling Grapefruit is limited edition. The others include Peppermint, Creme Brûlée (yumm!), Brown Sugar, Alminnd Creme, Cinnamon Sugar, Cocoa & Vanilla Bean. Texture/ Formula: ...

L'Oreal Lash Architect 4D Mascara

Image
Packaging: The tube is this silver shiny tube. It's not the usual square or round tube it's more angular with different sides and angles. The wand has plastic bristles and is supposed to be shaped like it shows on the side of the packet- in a angular slight twirl shape tapering towards the tip. Smell: Plastic. Colour: Brown. Opaque pigmentation. Available in 2 shades. Texture/ Formula: This is a dry mascara. I was able to feel it on my lashes. Honestly, I wasn't a fan of the brush. It didn't have enough length in the bristles to fully coat the lashes. L'Oreal say that the brush is architectural to help create the ultimate 'false eyelash' look. I can say the bristles are evenly placed but too short on the twirl shape. I didn't experience any flaking though. The formula made my lashes clump together so I brus...

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Brightener

Image
After hearing this product be the only thing that everyone in the States seemed to be talking about I went on the hunt for it here, knowing that most good products never make it to Australia. I ended up finding it in my trusty Chemist Warehouse store where they seem to stock most new makeup products before any other store. Packaging: Palm sized clear plastic tube. The applicator is a semi circle soft sponge that is protected by a clear cap. The applicator and tube is separated by a red section that you twist in one direction that moves the product up through to the applicator. When the sponge seems like it's getting dry with product you just twist this top section and more product is dispensed. When you have been using it for a while the product level is moved down and you can actually see how much you have used/ how much you have left. I like how fluffy and squishy the applicator looks. Smell: None surprisingly. ...

Lee Stafford Argan Oil

Image
Packaging: The bottle is a palm sized plastic orange bottle, with a pink pump and cap. It comes boxed in a matching box. Smell: Floral, nice bunch of rose/ vanilla/ jasmine flowers. Colour: The oil is a clear liquid. Texture/ Formula: This is a runny but lightweight oil. It's not greasy and doesn't transfer anything onto clothes or pillows. I't as soon as you have pumped enough oil onto your hands I would suggest that you put it on your hair straight away. It says on the bottle that it contains a Pro-Argan complex which I gathered helps to nourish the hair. It helps to enrich the hair's natural shine. I use it on damp hair, not soaking wet and it gives the smoothest, silkiest and shiniest hair when it dries. There's no fake film or gloss feeling on the hair. It really has improved the healthiness of my hair, especially the ends where for me t...

Shisedo Eyelash Curlers

Image
I had heard a lot of talk about these eyelash curlers as being pretty good if you are wanting an eyelash curler that gives a good curl to your lashes. Seeing as the one that I had previous to this one was a cheap no-name, old eyelash curler I decided that I would take the plunge and test out these curlers to see if there is such a difference between brands. Packaging: The eyelash curlers are a gunmetal grey. I like this colour, it gives the curlers something different from the standard silver curlers and you can more easily distinguish these if you had a few from other brands. The curlers came with one replacement pad and recommend replacing this every 3mths. I've had mine for easily 6mths and there is no sign of tearing in the pad, not even a little. The curlers are box in a clear plastic box. Colour: Gunmetal grey. Results: These curlers are amazing!! When you first use them you will find that the pad is a li...

Original Beauty Blender Sponge

Image
Packaging: This is a unique small bright pink tear drop shaped sponge that's soft to the touch. The curves are designed to fit the contours of your face. The plastic containers acts as a stand to air dry the sponge away from dirt. Of course you don't have to use or keep this packaging but I like to use it for that exact reason, I know that there is a clean hygiene place specifically for my beauty blender to dry. To use this sponge you wet the sponge a couple of times, squeeze the water out, wrap a paper towel or cloth around the sponge and squeeze the excess water out. By doing this the sponge expands. Below are before and after comparisons against an EOS lip balm (mint) & Manicare makeup sponge in terms of width & height between the items. As you can tell the beauty blender defiantly balloons up in size when damp. This sponge is also available in a pack that contains the beauty blender cleanser that gets rid of the makeup. I use Neutrogena Deep C...

MAC Creme de Nude vs. Revlon ColorStay Soft Nude 70

Image
So I wanted to compare these two lipsticks as I thought and the more I looked at them the more I thought that they looked similar and got excited that the Revlon will be a dupe for the MAC. In the post I did for the Revlon Colorburst lipstick I mentioned that I thought this may be the case and I was really wanting the MAC Creme de Nude. Colour: They both look similar in the tube as you can tell from the above picture. I'm not sure the picture is picking it up but the Revlon is a little more orange in the tube. Or should I say more on the orange side. The MAC Creme de Nude is swatched on the right side in both photos. When it is swatched the colour is more opaque. It is a more muted neutral peach nude and leans more this way. Revlon's Colorburst in Soft Nude is a neutral beige peach nude but it has a little more of an orange undertone to it that makes it a little more darker nude in comparison. This is swatched on the left. the organ undertone i...
