St Tropez Self Tan Starter Kit

Packaging:
These mini deluxe sized products come in their own see through box. The tan enhancing polish   comes in a typical plastic squeeze bottle and clear cap and is distinguished by it's blue colour. The Tanning mousse itself comes in a opaque white pump bottle with a tinted blue cap. The tan enhancing moisturiser comes in a typical plastic squeeze bottle and clear cap and is distinguished by it's white colour.

Tan Enhancing Polish
Smell:
Floral.

Colour:
White with blue iridescence.

Formula/ Texture:
Liquid with lots of sugar like scrub particles. While this does act as an exfoliant, I don't find it to really polish the skin of dead skin cells. There isn't enough lotion to move the sugar particles around the skin so I do feel like I have to work harder to get to do so. It would be great for those with really sensitive skin. It's good and does the job but not a must have. Your favourite body scrub will be sufficient.

Bronzing Mousse
Smell:
Very pleasant floral scent. No hint of fake tan once on the body at all!

Colour:
Deep brown with green tint.

Formula/ Texture:
This is a very thin and runny mousse. I tried shaking the bottle well before and in between pumps but it didn't quite foam up as anticipated. Product was splashed around in between pumps from doing so which was a little of an annoying to monitor. The runny consistency did give me the impression that I was using a lot more and I was scared I would soon look like a chocolate oompa loompa.

Applying it from the pump using the mitt was no problem. It was very smooth to apply and I'm wondering if this was from the runny nature. I worked fast, applying sections at a time so I haven't had the product run down my legs and cause any streaks. I haven't had any streaks with this which I can get from a lack of proper rubbing in during the application.

Maybe it was due to my summer tan but the fake tan was only able to be detected slightly. Paler skins will see where they've applied this easier. While I'm finding that a negative during summer it might be handy during the winter months. I do find it handy to see clearly where the product has been applied especially when it's been done too much and built up. My skin did feel a bit clamy like humid weather which made me more conscious of the clothes and objects leaving on my body.

The colour on first application is very light and I was worried that it wouldn't add much of a tan. I was worn. This develops very nicely over the course of 4 hours. I'd feel very comfortable applying this before going out for the night knowing my tan will deepen. I always leave it on overnight and rinse the next day to get maximum development. I have found this to last very well on my skin. A whole week I can get easily out of this! Amazing. And thats only moisturising after every shower in the Australian sweaty summer.

I still can't get over how nice this smells. No fake tan scent anywhere at all! Reminds me of a body lotion. The tan did wash right out of the mitt which I left to air dry.

Now the ONLY downside that I have found with this mousse is how the tan fades off. I exfoliate before each new tan and moisturise every night to maintain it and I found it wear off in patches. It's odd cause I've never experience this before. I did notice the patches were in body joint areas like elbows etc.

That's a deal breaker for me. It's not horrible but it's defiantly noticeable. I can live with a slightly orange tan for the first day or two but it actually looks fake when the tan wears unevenly. And I feel as though I'm treating my skin the best way possible and try every and which way I can but I'm having no luck.

Tan Enhancing Moisturiser
Smell:
Floral.

Colour:
White.

Formula/ Texture:
This is a thin and smooth lotion. It is cooling on the skin and very easy to apply and absorb both before and after tan application. It moisturises with no greasy feeling. My skin actually looks as though it's got some moisture after using this. Like with the exfoliant - this isn't anytime special. The smell matches the tan which means you will have a consistent scent throughout the steps. I don't feel as though it enhances the colour or wear time of the tan. Your favourite body lotion will be sufficient.

Overall
If the exfoliant and moisturiser were apart of a special kit I wouldn't hesitate to buy them but they aren't necessary to the performance and longevity of the tan itself. I do like having hair an d skin care from the same brand so I can see the loyalty there.

The tan is amazing. The formula, smell and longevity. I can defiantly understand the hype around this. It gives such a natural looking tan without any hassles. The ONLY downside is the patchy tan look when this wears off I can't justify purchasing this at full price but will jump at the chance when it's on sale. Bondi Sands Foaming Mousse is defiantly a much more affordable option with very similar results and even wear off.

Available:
This kit is only from Ulta Beauty in America for $25 (tan 50ml, others 75ml). Different kits are available in Australia from Priceline and Myer. A full size of the mousse is 150ml for $34.
