Beauty & Fashion Haul - April 2014

Image
Okay so honestly I'm a little worried at how much stuff I've brought just over the last month... I think I need to go on a no buy in May, especially with my USA trip approaching very shortly! Still I wanted to let you know about the bargains, I picked up cause I'm sure I won't be as lucky in the future. Skindinvaia Setting Sprays $50 Like I mentioned I'm heading to America early June and not only that my original bottle of the Bridal Setting Spray was running low, I hopped on the chance to get another one. Ordering from the US site, not only is cheaper including shipping compared to the Australian site, it ships here and comes with bonus sample sized sprays. Great as it's perfect for travel! The original setting spray was the other formula I had heard rave reviews about in conjunction with the Bridal finish. I always wanted to try it but couldn't shift off the Bridal finish. There was no promo code to enter or anything like that, so getting ...

Skindinavia No Glow Oil Control Primer Spray

Packaging: Small smooth black bottle with a black pump and clear protective cap. There are accents of metallic text that pop against the black background. The spray pump isn't hard nor get stuck. I find it very durable and portable and would be suitable for travel. However it's hard to immediately distinguish how much product is left just by looking at it. This can be felt by the weight of the bottle. Light, wide spray. Smell: Floral. Colour: None. Formula/ Texture: The first thing I noticed is how quickly this spray dried and 'set' on my face and this translates through to the cooler months of the year. It's not a major difference but these small things do add up and it's nice not have to wait the 15 or so seconds for the spray to dry. This formula is clinically proven to reduce the shine and oil with continued use. I know this is going on a tangent but the name of the formula doesn't seem to match the benefits of the sp...

Maybelline Dream Matte Powder

Image
Packaging: Chunky plastic beige compact. The top of the lid is clear (to choose the right colour). The bottom third of the compact twists out to reveal a mirror and puff. Smell: None. Colour: Cream (light 4-5)- Sheer pigmentation with a matte finish. Available in 4 shades. Formula/ Texture: Chalky, thin, lightweight powder. It's defiantly not as smooth as MAC Mineralise Skin Finish Natural. It's easy to apply and blend both with the powder puff provided and a brush.  I got this for the  100% oil-free, won't clog pores or cause blemishes or irritate skin which it has stuck to.  The longevity is 8-9 hours before I started to notice some shine. Due to the stiff and chalky texture I am able to feel it on the skin as it doesn't move when the face does as a finer milled power would. This is a minor aspect but it doesn't feel as comfortable. Unlike other powders I have tried, this has a white cast. Hopefully I...

L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara

Image
Packaging: Matte black slim tube with good text and cap. The wand is a wire bristle brush that has full even length brissles that taper quickly to the tip which I would call a classic wand shape. Smell: Wax. Colour: 335 Carbon Black Formula/ Texture: This is a slick and thin consistency. It's easily removed with a basic makeup wipe however I do find there is some black residue left below the lower lashes that takes further removal to be totally removed. I did find some smudging on my  lower lashes. This was  applying  mascara  lightly  both after and before the use of  makeup setting spray. Personally I  don't  have time with  smudges or checking throughout the day and removing this . Using a setting spray after application is the best method to reduce any smudges. I also get some tiny transfer on my lid from my top lashes. Waiting a  minute  for this to dry avoids this. There is no ...

Hollywood Fashion Secrets Mini Emergency Kit

Image
Packaging: It comes in a clear plastic box. Palm sized hot pink plastic zip case with black trimming. Easy to locate and clean. It contains; 6x Sore Gel Spots 4x Fashion Tape Strips Satin Nipple Covers Hair elastic (black) Makeup Remover Wipe Satin Remover Wipe Mini Sewing Kit Overall: It has all of the items you need in case of a emergency, especially fashion. It's not something that you think of to make sure you have on hand which is why I think it's such a brilliant idea. I think that this is the perfect size for any type of person for any situation. I think it's travel friendly as well as handbag friendly. I'm the type of person that would like a few tissues just in case of a sudden runny nose for example. For me when I travel, this won't be the ideal mini emergency kit but it's a great start. I know you can search on Ebay or Google for companies that specialised in mini emergency kits (such as Pinch Provisions) but they aren'...

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser

Image
Packaging: Palm sized clear plastic tube. The applicator is a semi circle soft sponge that is protected by a clear cap. The applicator and tube is separated by a red section that you twist in one direction that moves the product up through to the applicator. When the sponge seems like it's getting dry with product you just twist this top section and more product is dispensed. When you have been using it for a while the product level is moved down and you can actually see how much you have used/ how much you have left. I like how fluffy and squishy the applicator looks. Smell: None. Colour: Light Pale- beige with yellow undertones. Medium to full coverage with a satin finish. Available in 3 shades. Texture/ Formula: This is a thin and smooth liquid almost cream consistency. It is lightweight on the face with no cakeiness or settling into fine lines. It is easy ...

All About | Hair Care

It may seem silly or straight forward but they are small things you can do to help improve and care for your hair. Prehaps trivial but these have all been tried and tested by me. Use A Hair Mask/ Oil If hair has heat styling tools on it on a daily basis use a deep condition hair mask once a week. Also try and go at least 1-2 days without any heat. Leave in conditioners are great too. Any that have nourishing will help. Especially for dry and thick hair, use a hair oil such as Moroccan Oil. A little goes a long way and your hair will benefit so much from it. Rinse With Lukewarm Water In the shower, wash your hair with luke warm water as to not burn your scalp. Do a final rinse with cold water. Like with your face, it'll help to seal off the hair and close the end shafts. Never Rub Hair Viscously When towel drying hair, never rub as this causes more friction and tangles, leading to more damaged ends. Instead incase the towel around the hair and slip it down from the...

Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balms

Image
Packaging: Thick shiny plastic tube with cap. Each shade has it's corresponding colour as the tube colour with a silver end. In this case it's a light mauve pink with silver text. The bottom of the tube winds the chubby pencil up/down. The end does come softly pointed but does wear down flatter. Smell: Peppermint which I don't particularly like as it reminds me a lot of the strong after dinner chocolate mints. Colour: 130 Tease - Orange with neutral undertones 150 Enticing - True red with cool undertones 135 Provocateur - Burnt red with warm undertones 125 Flirtatious - Berry with neutral undertones. Silver shimmer in tube but doesn't translate to lips 120 Vivacious - Deep pink with cool undertones 115 Whimsical - Purple with cool undertones. Silver shimmer in tube that translates onto lips 110 Coquette - Pink with cool undertones 105 Demure -  Light pink with warm undertones. Primers | Overview

Judging from the type of posts over the last year and a bit primers appeared to be the most common product. I have been on a primer kick. I want to try them all with so many on the market it makes it so much more easier. I have combination skin, so oil free products work best for me. Depending on the weather I can get slightly enlarged pores around my nose. Hydration isn't something I need, nor is skin tone correction. Here is the wrap of the ones I've tried using highlights; Benefit 'That Gal' Brightening Face Primer Pink colour - clear when sheered out Thin lotion consistency Smooth texture Natural finish Overall face brightening effect from colour â…” for extending longevity of my makeup Benefit Porefessional Primer Beige colour - doesn't add any tint to the face Thin gel like consistency Very silicone texture Matte finish Feel as though a lot of primer is needed 3/3 for extending longevity of my makeup Laura Mercier Oil...

Current Obsessions | APRIL

Image
Similar to monthly favourites, I've really starting noticing sine last year how I discover something and instantly love it and have become obsessed with it. So I thought that could be something could share. And no, this isn't going to be all about makeup. Some months it might be, but as general as lifestyle obsessions, from beauty to skincare to clothes to music to food to an action etc. Everything that we fall in love with. I haven't planned on limiting the items for these cause I really don't want a fake amount of items to share. I realise the bringing of the year is over, but I have to start somewhere right? 'Current Obsessions' seems to fit more than 'Monthly Favourites' cause while I continue to be obsessed with and love the item/s it's more of a passionate feeling of what I've can't be getting enough of! So to kick it off here are this months' obsessions; White Blazers There's something about the clean and...
