Organisation & Storage Ideas | Jewellery

Image
I like to separate jewellery collection into the costume pieces and expensive or valuable pieces and store them accordingly. The tricky part I found is that my collection continues to grow as does my style taste. I want a system that will suit for years not months and for all types of jewellery. I suggest spending a considerable amount of time working out what doesn't work for you and what options are available. For example you may like the look of the vintage boxes/ dishes but are always in a rush when getting ready, so fumbling through many items in a boxes may not be practical. Always plan for the space you  have  not want . Allow for some room for your collection to grow so it doesn't quickly not work for you. Having unity in colour and style of pieces (bins, dividers, buckets) adds cohesion to your room and based on appearance is easier on the brain especially to process. If you can't find what you're looking for or picturing in your head google it using key...

All About | Skin Types

Like with your skin tone, knowing your skin type can greatly change the way you treat it, how it reacts to different makeup and how it absorbs skin products. Hopefully I can give you a better understanding of your skin. Skin Types Normal Characterised by non fuss, easy to maintain and easily self hydrated skin. Dry Characterised by dehydrated or easily dehydrated, tightness, flakiness. Typically found in more mature skin. Oily Characterised by shiny skin and lots of blemish. Large pores are most commonly found here. Typically found in young skin, most likely due to hormones. Combination Areas of the face are dry or normal. The other areas are oily with blemishes. Typically the T-zone is the oily area with the cheeks normal. Skin Care Normal Anything goes. Due to the carefree natural of your skin you can choose anything you want. Here is a great time to target specific concerns ie. anti-aging, sunspots, wrinkles etc. Products that had a benefit in one ...

Makeup Starter Products

I wanted to do a post for beginners of makeup. It's massive confusing world, especially if the shops are anything to go by, just aisles of products and brands. Now while your dipping your foot into this world it is important to understand your skin type and tone. Confusing yes but it defiantly helps with choosing the most effective products that are going to work for you.  My post for this is here. Without further ado, here are the top products I recommend (and have) to those who 1: just want the bare basics, 2: maybe would like to extend into makeup more in the future. Powder While this is suited for all skin types apart from dry, powder is perfect as it adds that hint of coverage on the face. Young girls in my opinion have the most beautiful skin and masking it with yucky nasty makeup ingredients will only do it harm and not let the skin breathe. The pressed powder variety is perfect as it's easier to work with in application and degree of coverage. Covergirl, Mayb...

All About | Skin Tones

Image
Knowing your skin tone can greatly help you choose colours in clothes and makeup that compliment you so much better. The colour wheel is literally all you need to figure out about tones. Identify the colour that's the basis of the area you're targeting. Move your eye directly across the wheel and this colour is the one you need to neutralise your target area. Redness areas including blemishes would sit in the red section of the wheel. This is a warm colour so to neutralise it we need a cool colour. The opposite side of the wheel is complementary green. Now while this isn't natural colouring for your face, the closest primary colour is yellow. You then want a yellow undertoned concealer to correct redness. Undereye area is either blue or purple based. These are cool colours so to neutralise it we need a warm colour. Using the colour wheel we can see that the opposite colour is complementary orange and yellow. You want to a salmon (pink)/ peachy (orange) under...

Organisation & Storage Ideas | Pants/Bottoms

Image
Clothing bottoms, we either have too many jeans over skirts and shorts so finding an equal system can be hard especially with the varying lengths. Firstly determine which type of clothing bottom (pants, jeans, shorts, skirts) you wear more and want to be more prominent or easier to get too. Now it's time to look at some options; hanging for those who have more wardrobe space, shelve...

How To: Clean Makeup Brushes

While theres no defiant do's and dont's there are things I have learnt the hard way when it comes to cleaning makeup brushes. The first thing is the temperature of the water. Anything hot will be likely to melt the glue in the feral causing brush hairs to come loose frustration when they're on your face. Lukewarm or barely cold is the best temperature. Next you want to think about how you hold the brush when you clean. Holding the brush upside down on a vertical angle, with the burst hairs pointing down will help ensure no extra water gets into the feral, loosing brush hairs and extending the drying time. This also means NEVER to soak your brushes including the feral. Another thing is how you move the brushes. Gently this is. Moving the brush gently, with light pressure, in a figure 8 either spot or deep cleaning. This way your not causing extra damage to the brush hairs or getting them out of shape, yet still cleaning them. Gently also applies to the cle...

Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit

Image
Packaging: Slim oval shiny black plastic compact. Inside of the lid is a mirror. The bottom portion on the left is the concealer. The right side is the setting powder. It's easy to clean & store but does pick up grubby fingermarks. Smell: None. Colour: Ivory - forth lightest beige shade but more yellow undertoned. Medium to full coverage with a natural finish. Available in 13 shades. The powder is more sheer in coverage and yellow undertoned then the concealer. Formula/ Texture: Purpose is a portable kit with both concealer and setting powder to brighten and cover dark circles. Concealer - this is a very creamy, smooth, thin consistency. I am actually surprised, I thought creamy would equal thick. It applies and blend very easily with fingers or a brush. It feels very lightweight on the face. It is easily removed with a basic makeup wipe. The instructions on the back of the box indicates to apply this only under the eyes and tha...

Nails | OPI You're Such A Budapest

Image
This is a baby purple colour. It is a flat colour with no shimmer or glitter. Only two coats are needed. In this picture I have it as an accent nail on my ring finger with OPI's Teenage Dream from the Katy Perry collection over the top. I really like this colour, can't believe it took me so long to get it. It's a feline colour without being a typical pink. It's also perfect for spring/ summer.
