Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation

I was after a foundation that would be travel friendly in terms of packaging, long-wearing and oil-free. High bench mark hey? In a 3 for 2 special I thought it'll be no better opportunity to test this foundation out considering I've never tried any face products form Rimmel before.

Packaging:
Soft matte squeeze tube with the bottom portion of the tube showing the colour of the foundation which also helps to indicate how much product is left. The shiny beige lid is screw off with a portion control dispenser with a tiny opening that helps to control how much product you want. Very durable packaging especially for travelling.

Smell:
Only on the back of my hand can I smell something that resembles a slight light sunscreen smell.

Colour:
100 Ivory. Medium coverage with a matte finish. This is the lightest shade from the selection I had to choose from and I'm by no means a pale skinned person. This is one of the negative things about this foundation-the colour range! There is barely one with 7 shades seeming to be in the yellow undertoned side.

Texture/ Formula:
This is a smooth, thin and silky. It's easy to apply and blend with fingers or a brush. It does feel lightweight. The foundation is talc, paraben, fragrance and oil free. It has cucumber to help clarify the skin, cotton to control shine and chamomile to help calm the skin. It never broke me out or caused skin irritation. It is easily removed with a basic makeup wipe.

I did find that within 6 hours I was getting some shine on my combination skin so I set with powder to help reduce this shine attack. So unfortunately the '12 hour shine control' claim didn't happen. As for the matte finish I can only compare it to my beloved Revlon Colorstay foundation. Revlon has a longer matte finish hold on the skin. Using a primer this lasted 7 hours.

The biggest bummer and disappointment of this foundation is the oxidisation. Within a few hours the oxidisation is bad, meaning that when it comes into contact with oxygen in the air the colour changes. I did a test swatch on the back of my hand instore and walked around for 10 minutes before I purchased it, with no orange mark. So it makes me think the warmth and natural oils on the face made it oxidise more? This is a major disappointment.

If you have more warm undertones this may at a punch work for you but your decision.
