L'Oreal True Match Powder Compact

Image
Packaging: Plastic compact, great for the handbag and for touch ups for nights out. It comes with a sponge in a storage section under the powder itself but I never used it in as sponges need replacing often as product gets 'caught' in the the pores of the sponge and bacteria grows and most likely gets transferred to the face which causes blocked pores and blemish. Smell/: None. Colour: W1 which is the lightest- light beige. Sheer  pigmentation  with a matte finish. Available  in 5 colours. Texture/Formula: The powder is fine and smooth. It's lightweight and easy to apply. I use a powder brush which I find to pick up enough product without going overboard. When using a brush you have to be careful not to swipe too much/too hard as this causes excess and too much powder is put onto the face. In these cases a simple tap of the brush is all that is needed to remove this excess. I does add a slight tint to the face and sets foundation well. I found th...

L'Oreal Telescopic Liquid Eyeliner

Image
Packaging: Little pot with a  tapered  handle. The actual applicator is a tapered felt tip which gives either thick or thin lines. Smell: None. Colour: #810 Black Noir. Very pigmented colour.  Available in black brown. Texture/Formula: The liquid texture easily smudges in the first 5 seconds on the skin. The thicker nib makes it easier for liquid line ruses to get either a thin or thick line. It is easily removed with no irruption to my eyes. I don't find the longevity of this eyeliner to be that substantial. Initially the pigmentation is great but I can start to see it 'fade away' and not be as pigmented towards the end of an 8hr day making me not look as fresh. For the black colour I want that intensity to last throughout the day. I was disappointed with this but it's great thick or thin liner for beginners. Available: From Priceline, pharmacies and discount department stores for  $18.

L'Oreal Translucide Naturally Luminous Powder

Image
Packaging: Thick plastic palm sized jar. The container has a smooth surface and is easy to wipe clean. Inside though the sifter is left open and bare after the safety sticker has been pulled back. It does make keeping the product from going everywhere hard. Smell: None. Colour: 958 Translucent light.  Sheer  pigmentation with  a natural satin finish. Available in 2 shades. Texture/Formula: The powder itself is soft and silky. I apply this using a face powder brush as I find this evenly distributes the powder than the powder poof included. It's e nriched with Vitamin C that gives the  natural satin finish and dimension to the face.  Apply too much and it can look  cake y and leaves a little bit of a white cast. Other then that it does set my foundation. I picked up this powder because it's non comedogenic/ acnegenic and dermatologically tested. Meaning it won't clog pores and form pimples which it's yet to do a...

Lee Stafford Poker Straight Dry Shampoo

Image
Packaging: Metal bright pink can with sheer plastic cap that  compact size and fits comfortably in my hand.  The wide spray nozzle was more resistant which can be a tad hard when using it .  I haven't experienced this clogging near the actual nozzle but you would be able to wash it in warm water and rinse out.   Smell: Rose scented talcum powder. Texture/ Colour: Fine white powder once on hair. Its very easy to rub into the  hair   with   for  fingers and get a more blurred  effect  with a comb. My hair is soft and very manageable after use. It does freshen up my hair and look less oily. It does do a good job, nothing unique. I would say the most  unique  aspect of this dry  shampoo  in the  massive  market, is the  bright  pink bottle.  I do admit the pink bottle and smell is quite nice. Also t he price of this compared to others like Batise, is quite high...

Clarisonic Classic For Face & Body

Image
First Impressions: Wow this product is wonderful. My face feels firmer, fresher and as if there is no cleanser/makeup left behind. Defiantly impressed. The massaging/cleaning motion is gentle and not harsh at all. A little unexpected but nothing that is so bizarre you can't get used to. Quite exciting to use too. Packaging: White hard plastic device. It comes with it's own storage and charging port that it sits in. The charger end is wide and white, mirroring a similar shape to the Clarisonic system. There is an interchangeable brush head that sits at one end with a removable plastic protection cover. It is advised that the system be charged for 30mins weekly. The front/underside with the brush head has a grey felt plastic area with the soft touch on/off button. The backside of the system has two lights. When turned on, the top lights green. When the battery is low and needs a full charge the top and bottom light flash red. When charging the top light flashes ...

Benefit Box o' Powders

Image
Thrrrob "turned on" face powder. P ackaging: Like with all Benefit's products the packaging matches the product name and function. Here is no different. Seeing as though this powder blush is supposed to stimulate the same kind of natural blush you get when your heart races whether this is due to seeing a crush or running a marathon or becoming embarrassed, Benefit has decided to take the most appealing option (love). To emphasise this sexy aspect the lid of the blush has the back of a red corset with pink ribbon. The print on the bottom half of the product is fishnet stockings being worn so that you can see someones leg (see photos).  This is a 12.0g net wt 0.42 powder. Smell: It has a unique smell to it, however I can't quite put my finger on what it smells like. It reminds me of a rosey fragrance. Texture: Looking at the texture in the box after a few uses, the powder on the surface looks grainy. As of random small parts of...

Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer

Image
My previous concealer also from Maybelline, the pure.makeup™ concealer was all gone and I had started breaking out and wanted something to cover them up. I'm really disappointed that the pure.makeup range from Maybelline is no longer available but that's another entire blog post on its own, so I got the next best thing which was from Maybellines’ Mineral Power line. This line is supposed to have the benefits of micro minerals and won’t clog the pores. Packaging: Little round plastic tube with a doe foot applicator. This does mean it’s durable and hardwearing and easy to keep clean. Smell: There’s no real distinct smell. If I hold it close enough to my nose I can smell a faint plastic, factory smell. It’s not at all off-putting. Colour: #960 Ivory Light 2-3. Medium coverage with a natural finish. If built up too much can look cakey. Also available in 3 shades. Texture/Formula: It's a thin, smooth liquid. It's easily ...

Benefit Powderflage Powder Concealer

Image
I have heard wonderful and positive raves about this Powderflage Powder concealer from Benefit. It’s about ~$35 so I have been hesitating purchasing it but when I heard rumours that it was being discontinued I found it online for $30 and decided to give it a go.       Packaging: First of all Benefit is known for their cute packaging (and is probably included in the price tag). The Powderflage Set comes with the Flager brush, the powderflage, ‘beauty lesson booklet’ (instructions) all in this metal tin shorter than the length of my hand. I like how they have adapted the army/camouflage feel onto the tin, ‘cause that’s exactly what the product is designed to do. Inside the tin is crimped cardboard which runs along with the army theme and makes me know that the marketing team at Benefit have thought the whole theme out extending to even the inside of the tin. And I like the light pink writing, adds a feminine touch. As for the Powderflage con...

L'Oreal Paris Extra-Volume Collagene Mascara

Image
Packaging: It comes in a sleek shiny black plastic tube with gold writing. The wand is fat wire bristles that are in an hourglass shape and tapered at the tip. Smell: It has a faint plastic type smell but it’s not overpowering or disgusting to me.  Colour: True Black. Opaque pigmentation. A vailable in a waterproof formula. Texture/Formula: This formula leans more on the dry side. Theres no flaking or stiff lashes. I have found that if you don’t let the lashes dry in between coats than the lashes will clump together and not be every separate and not give volume. 2 coats delivers the 12x more impact and 3 coast clumps the lashes together. The formula has Hydra-Collagen which is the key in the formula for volume. The fat wand is  also 2x bigger than a classic mascara brush which helps to build volume fast. I really like this mascara and the volume it gave to my lashes if they aren't wet. My only problem with it is the price. Just too expensive in ...
