This is a think, slippery velvet gel. It take a few minutes to absorb into the skin otherwise it can just rub off. I'm not a fan of this but I jumble my makeup routine to fit it in. I've found it best applied with fingers starting in the centre of the face working outwards. I do fell it 'sitting' on top of my skin.
It is non comedogenic which it hasn't clogged my pores and broken me out nor has it caused any irritations. The purpose is to help extend makeup wear which this does by upto 4hrs. It also matinees the skin for oil and shine control. My t-zone is my most shines area on my face which is most evident at 3pm on a normal day. This is surprisingly effective even with more luminous foundation.
Matte finish foundations are kept as such throughout the day with shine starting to show through for some more natural finish foundations a couple of hours after they normally would. Being a silicone texture though, it doesn't smooth over dry patches of skin.
Overall I think this primer does a good job but is perfect at keeping the skin matte. I wouldn't buy it for anything else and would only recommend it to oily skin types. Maybelline's Baby Skin primer doesn't feel as masky as this does. I will try my best to use it up but defiantly not on my cheeks.
