YSL Singulier Exaggerated Lashes Mascara
Packaging:
Gold box that reflects the circular mascara mirror tube itself. The handle has a black contrast YSL logo. The wand is a wire/plastic. Thickness of wand is normal with wire bristles. The bristles actually wrap around the wand in a double helix pattern that all vary in length.
I did find the stopper to be quite small and it was relatively hard and slow to remove the wand from the tube. I am finding a lot of product clumping on the tip of the wand. Upon opening and closing the tube, the packaging felt poorly made as it didn't feel sturdy and easily breakable.
Smell:
None.
Colour/Taste:
None.
Colour/Taste:
#1 Black. Very intense pigment. Available in 3 shades and a waterproof version.
Formula/ Texture:
It's a dry and thick formula. Even with the multi dimensional bristles, I still found the wand easy to apply with no adjusting to the size or poking in the eye. The majority is removed with a basic makeup wipe but it does take a little extra power to remove any remaining mascara.
The black in this formula is very pigmented. My flashes don't feel stiff. It does contain pro-vitamin B5 to protect, nourish and strengthen lashes. Having said that I haven't noticed any sort of difference in the condition of my lashes.
Two things I have noticed with this mascara. First of all it flakes a little right under the eyes by the end of the day (when you look right up to your eye). It smudges on my lower lash line like I've accidentally rubbed my eye. Even when I deliberately don't load my lower lashes with mascara but the middle of the day there is some notable black smudging and this is with liner anywhere. Two things I really dislike in a mascara.
One of the first things I notice about this mascara is how easy it creates a curl in uncurled lashes. I haven't noticed this quite as much with any other mascara. However I don't see that curl lasting all day.
A drier mascara formula generally means that it's going to provide more volume. And I don't think the photos show it as much but this provides amazing and noticeable volume that lasts all day. The only thing with a formula like this is that if it dries out super fast before it's expiry it'll flake. And the volume is such a natural looking volume defiantly at the base of the lashes but are also a bit glam.
Volume isn't the only thing, I noticed nice length with just one coat! I really do think most of the result is down to the multi dimensional bristles that form the double helix. The different lengths are able to get into all the lashes and coat them with enough product that doesn't weigh it down. I haven't found this to clump my lashes either.
I am honestly surprised that it has given me the results it has. I honestly think that for the price, there are other mascaras that provide the same and better results but it's a high end brand that doesn't disappoint. Ones that aren't going to flake or smudge. The only good element I can say about this mascara is the volume it gives.
This is a bit pricey but if no other mascara is getting right at the roots of the lashes as you'd like to give you some natural looking glam lashes, then give this a try.
