John Frieda Frizz-Ease Creme Serum Overnight Repair Formula

Image
I noticed that my hair had split ends, not matter how often I looked at them and trimmed them. This scared me that even though I wasn't using any heat on my hair it was still splitting and this got me worried. I saw that this would be absolutely perfect for my problem, something that could hydrate my ends whilst I sleep so I don't have to wait to wash it out .   Packaging: An oval shaped, dark blue plastic bottle, with a clear lid. The outside has a smooth shiny finish to it. It fits comfortably in the hand. The dispenser is also a clear pump dispenser which doesn't have a strong squirt so it's easy to control the amount of product. Smell: Moonflower/ Orchids. Heavenly in other words. Colour: White. Texture/Formula: It's a gel consistency, that is smooth, lightweight and absorbs easily into the hair.  It doesn't make my roots any more greasy or look greasy. There's no film left on my pillow either. I don't...

Priceline Haul - February 2011

Just a few things that I wanted for so long and they were on sale!! Australis  Makeup Finishing Spritz I wanted this to set my makeup. To see if it does make a difference. $15 on sale for $11.46 Manicare Crystal Nail File Arghh Im so sick of those normal emery boards as they loose their harshness very quickly for me and then my nails don't get a good file after a few months. Anyway I thought a nail file like this one which never looses its grainy texture on the nails. $16 on sale for $13.16. Neutrogena Healthy Defense Moisturiser with SPF 30 I needed a new moisturiser and Neutrogena works well for me. I want to be anti-aging and future focused and I know that applying sunscreen daily not only helps prevent wrinkles but also helps lower the risk of sunburn and cancer. I feel that normal sunscreen is too thick, smelly and sticky for me and that this moisturiser would be a good way of combining the two so that it's one less step but it doesn't become...

Maybelline Shiny.licious Gloss

Image
Packing: It comes in a squeezy tube with a screw cap lid. The applicator is a doe foot with a hole in the middle, so when you squeeze the tube the product comes out through this hole. Very  durable  and basic packaging. Smell/ Taste: It smells like berries which is weird for a clear gloss but the flavour of the gloss is 'berry clear 01' which now makes sense. Doesn't have a taste. Colour: 01 Berry Clear - simple clear. There was 12 colours in this range and I can't comment on the opaqueness of this range. Texture/Formula: It does deliver a shiny coating, not sticky though. The gloss felt funny when I had it my lips as in very slick and as though chunks of it made it into my  mouth  when I talked cause I could feel it when I swallowed. It lasted as long as it didn't touch  anything. This range isn't available anymore but I wouldn't recommend it as it felt odd on the lips. Available: Not available anymore but was  $...

NARS Lipgloss 'Turkish Delight'

Image
I had heard that this NARS lipgloss is the colour to have that gives you a nice nude-y pink that suits everyone. The perfect colour to slip on that complements any type of makeup. So I thought I'd give it a try. Packaging: The lipgloss comes in the standard NARS packaging which is in a little case of black corrugated cardboard and then in a NARS black cardboard packaged box with white text. As for the lipgloss itself, the container is rectangular in shape and it feels soft and has a matte finish to the lid. The bottom portion is clear smooth plastic. The applicator wand is long and has a doe foot built in. Smell/Taste: I can only smell any hint of a smell when I put the doe foot applicator right up to my nose and it smelt kinda plastic-y. On the lips however no smell. Taste wise nothing disgusting just a normal lip product. Colour: Turkish Delight - light pale pink. Sheer pigmentation with a gloss finish. I think this is a nice nude lip colour. Ava...

MAC Brush Cleanser

Image
I needed a brush cleanser and this was the only one I could find here in Australia. I use it for spot cleaning but once a week I deep clean my brushes with baby hair shampoo.    Packaging: The brush cleaner comes in a clear, flexible, plastic bottle. The lid is a black click open/shut with a pour dispenser. However I feel as though this gives out too much product for one or a couple of brushes and then much is wasted. So I switched out the lid with a spray bottle, I am able to make the cleaner last longer and get the right even amount of product for my brushes. Smell: In the bottle it smells like straight vodka but not so much when you spray it. Colour: Pink.  I think this might just be a colouring factor and nothing to do with the ingredients inside that make it that specific colour and doesn't affect the cleaning agent. However on the brush it's just like a water spray. Texture/Formula: This is simply a liquid cleanser. M.A.C suggest that you...

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

Image
After hearing much talk and hype and love for this product on the internet, I found an Australian makeup internet site: crush cosmetics that sell Urban Decay ordered one of these to try. Packaging: Purple hourglass shape tube a silver pointed lid that reminds me of a magic genie lamp and the tops of temples in India with an angled doe foot applicator. The purple paint on the outside I found comes off in flakes with continuous everyday usage. The only downside to this  packaging is not being able to get the product from the full container. You can always cut open the packaging but that risks getting tiny fragments of plastic in the product and causing irritation on the eye. The angled applicator fits well over the eye but I still feel like it doesn't reach all throughout the tube. Again with the covered container, being able to tell how much product is left is hard, unless the tube is cut open. * *Updated 2012 the eyeshadow primer now comes in a sque...

L'Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation

Image
The only reason I purchased this foundation apart from needing a lighter shade of foundation for winter is that it was from the True Match range which claims to blend seemingly with your skin so that the colour matches your skin tone. Packaging: The bottle is glass with a plastic lid. The lid reveals a grey plastic pump that  distributes  an  adequate  amount of  product . I haven't experienced any clogging from it but if not wipped carefully foundation can dry around the nozzle. Even though the bottle is glass the level of foundation doesn't go down when you use it. It's a little  annoying  as it's hard to judge based on weight of the bottle how much is left. Smell: Only when I sniff it right under my nose and this is a faint plastic smell. Colour: W1 Golden Ivory - light to medium that is very yellow undertoned. Medium  coverage that is buildable but then starts to look cakey with a satin finish.  Avail...

Maybelline Green Cover Stick

Image
I had a party coming up and of course I had this massive pimple on my chin, so I brought this in the hope of calming down the redness, seeing as though I couldn't think of another way to solve that problem. Packaging: Green plastic wind up tube, with a clear lid. Honestly it does feel cheap. Smell: It smells weird on the stick, similar to burnt plastic or plastic bandaids. Hadn't noticed it previously. Colour: Light pale green. Full  coverage  with a matte finish. Texture/Formula: It's a thick dry consistency. It's hard to put on and rub in, by the time its smoothed out, the green has spread and half your face is green. The key here is to use a little bit and dot it on with the ring finger that way the dot is blurred and blended in. It's not that long wearing and I have found it to crease and move by the end of the day. It's not the product for beginners as it does take careful application of this and then concealer to blend ...

Jan Favs

Guess Wallet I got this for myself around christmas time. I kinda of convinced myself that I needed a new wallet and I fell in love with this zip around one. I love the new Guess smell and the discrete placement of the diamontes too ;-) Wearing my hair in a bun It has been way too hot in January to be even be thinking about making my hair look nice and put together and style it out cause the heat doesn't cooperate. Instead all I've been doing is putting my hair in a bun, up and off my neck and shoulders so that my skin  is free to be cool and sweet-free. Juxt & Humid eyeshadow I've been loving these two eyeshadows in January. Juxt kinda looks like a yellow but goes on a green-ish yellow all over the lid, then place humid in the crease and blend in along the lash line at it looks so pretty. Wearing little makeup  Like with wearing my hair in a bun, it's been too hot and energy draining to wear a full face of makeup. Not only does the heat melt i...
