Covergirl Lashblast Fusion Mascara

Image
Packaging: Purple tube with silver writing in the tube like other Covergirl products. The brush is thick with plastic  flexible bristles. The length of the bristles get shorter as they get to the tip of the brush. I believe that it's the formula of this mascara that gives the volume and curl to the lashes. Smell: Faint plastic. Colour: 860 Very Black. Opaque pigmentation. Available in 2 shades and a waterproof version. Texture/Formula: It's not an overly wet formula. The stopper is thin not leaving extra product on the wand. The lashes don't stiff up when the formula dries over the course of the day. I've had no flaking or eye irritation. It is very easily removed with makeup wipes.  I have a slight curl and average length natural lashes. So I want a mascara that can add volume, length and curl. I always curl my lashes before mascara application and regardless if this is missed the volume that the mascara gives is amazing! It looks nat...

Batiste Dry Shampoo Blush

Image
This UK brand of dry shampoo is in the fragrance "blush". The only difference it has from the original apart from an awesome pink packaging can with a green cap is that it has delicate fragrance. And yes as that's why I picked it up as my  Lee Stafford Poker Straight Dry Shampoo  was feeling a little empty. Packaging: Pink tropical floral print  aerosol  can with a green cap. The cap is a tad hard to get off but the can fits comfortably in the palm of the hand. The spray nozzle hasn't clogged in my experience and shoots a comfortable strong mist at an average width. Smell: Very subtle but a little florally and feminine. Texture/Formula: Like with other dry shampoos that I've tried if sprayed too close to the  hair, it  does leave a white mist rubbed in to work. It's easy and quick to rub or brush in. There's no residue,  greasy feeling and it feels  dry . It does an awesome job of refreshing the hair, removing any greas...

YSL Golden Gloss #20 Golden Macadamia

Image
Packaging: The gloss comes in this awesome, shiny, reflective gold box. The gloss is in a square tube with the same shiny, reflective, gold lid with the YSL emblem engraved on it which could be used as a mirror if needed. The bottom portion of the tube is clear showing the colour of the gloss perfectly. The brush applicator is medium length but adds more control over the placement of the gloss. Everything about this packaging is so luxurious. Smell: Like mangoes!! So yummy and irresistible and might I add very unique. Colour: #20 Golden Macadamia - light brown/ nude with gold flecks and cool undertones. Medium pigmentation with a gloss finish. To me this is the perfect nude colour that still looks natural. There is quite a few colours in this range. Texture/Formula: The gloss is fine, smooth and not sticky at all! It's very comfortable and lightweight on the lips. It has gold flecks that are actually 24 carat gold which makes up 0.2% of the gloss. ...

Benefit 'Eye Bright' & 'High Brow' Pencil

Image
I've really wanted to try these out. I wanted to know if they were holy grail products and worth spending the money on. Packaging: Both came in a cardboard box. These are like jumbo eyeliners where the pencil outside is a main colour with coordinating coloured text. Smell: None. Colour: High Brow - pale nude. Opaque pigmentation with a matte finish. Eye Bright - light pale pink. Opaque pigmentation with a matte finish. Formula/ Texture: Both have the smooth creamy pencil consistency.    'High Brow' it acts as a eyelift and highlights the arch of the brow. Very effective for that. As for 'Eye Bright' I use it on the inner corners of my eyes a triangle under my eye and around the outside corner of my eye and it really gives a brightening and awake effect in the eyes. Both have limited staying power.  You do have to be careful with pencil products around the eye.  Some will found the pencil quick and easy to ap...

L'Oreal Touche Magique Concealer

Image
I wasn't aware of this product until I had watched a couple of videos on YouTube about it. When it was mentioned that the Touche Magique was very comparable in terms of product benefits to the YSL's Touche Eclat, I thought that it would defiantly be something worth a try. YSL's concealer retails for $55 here in Australia, which is pretty expensive for the amount of product you get but when I have a spare $55 lying around I might just take the plunge and get it *cough*. When I actually went to get L'Oreal's Touche Magique I had some trouble trying to find it to be honest, which can explain why I hadn't noticed it before. Packaging: It comes in a sleek pen like form with twist bit at the bottom that allows the product to come out at the top. The applicator is  a soft brush which allows precise and controlled application. Smell: None. Colour: C3-5 Rose Beige. Medium coverage with a natural finish. I got a shade darker than I thought ...

Dior Addict High Shine Lipstick

Image
Packaging: The lipstick comes in this amazing silver reflective box, which depending on what angle you hold it at you get red reflection on the box. When you open up the box the inside is red which is a nice contrast to the outside silver but it also shows that the company has put thought into the boring aspect of opening up the box. The High Shine lipstick itself is in a transparent rectangle casing. The casing is also reflective, complementing the box of red, blue/purple reflects. The outside of the casing has the word 'Dior' sticking out on two of the four sides of the casing. The casing slips off the entire lipstick with a silver, shiny ball at the other end with 'CD' engraved in it representing 'Christian Dior'. The silver tube is a twist up lipstick. Smell: None. Colour: 352 Champagne Blush - Peachy pink with tiny gold flecks leaning more towards the pink side. Sheer pigmentation  with a shine finish . Buildable colour. Available...

L'Oreal Lineur Intense/ Super Liner Liquid Eyeliner

Image
Packaging: Gold tube with the handle of the applicator is tapered towards the end and makes up the majority of the tube.  It has a felt tip that is quite flexible. Smell: None. Colour: 620 Black - very pigmented black. Available in 3 shades. Texture/Formula: The liquid isn't too runny, drying fairly quickly once on. The black pigmentation stays true throughout the day with no fading. I've had no creasing with this liner, though if you have hooded eyes and don't wait for this to set for 5 seconds, it will transfer. It feels lightweight on the eyes and is easy to remove with basic makeup wipes. The precise felt tip and the amount of pressure applied depends on the thickness of the line achieved. This one is better for beginners and is good for when time is short as there's no need to fully concentrate on what side of the felt tip you have when applying. It's easy to adjust too. The longetivty of this liner is amazing and ...

Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo for Oily/Straight to Normal Hair

Image
Packaging: Sleek, tall, shiny black casing with a yellow-greenish cap that complements the writing on the bottle. The spray nozzle is also black. Smell: Citrus. Colour: Goes on white but dissapears when brushed out. Texture/Formula: The dry shampoo is like a hairspray mist. When the dry shampoo is brushed out, the hair can feel a little gritty but still look freshly washed. This is the first dry shampoo that I've encountered where its best to brush the hair to get rid of the dry shampoo as opposed to using your fingers and scruff the hair.  Honestly this doesn't work for me. It still leaves my hair looking oily. I've tried brushing, using my fingers, waiting the recommended 2 minutes, not waiting, holding the can close and far from head, all to no avail. It just doesn't seem to work for me no matter how I use it. I really want to love it Im just hoping that I've got a defect can and that another can will work wonders for me. Availa...

Revlon ColorStay Foundation

Image
Packaging: The foundation comes in a neat glass bottle with a black screw top lid. The opening is large and the product has to be poured out which is the only annoying thing about the foundation as I pour a little amount of product onto the back of my hand then use little bits of the pile to apply the foundation. Easy to store and easy to see how much you have left/have used. ** Update July 2013- now comes with a pump and controls the product easier** Smell: There is a disctinct smell of this foundation when sniffing it in the bottle that doesn't transfer to the face. Colour: 150 Buff - light with yellow undertones. Full coverage with a natural finish.  I have pink undertones in my skin so this cancels it out. This comes in 9 shades for both the normal/dry skin and combination/oil skin foundations. Texture/Formula: This foundation is  thick  due to the fact that it has intense colour staying ingredients. It has an SPF6 which sunsc...

Sunsilk Frizz Control Curl Definition

Image
Packaging: The plastic tube is silver with a blue cap and accent. The product is dispensed through the standard squeeze tube that can be easily cut to get the remaining product out. Smell: It smells fresh and rejuvenating and with a hint of citrus. Colour: Clear. Texture/Formula: Gel like product is thick and goopy. It contains aloe vera nutri-serum known for it's soothing properties. It does provide definition to the curls but I feel as though it weighs the hair down and the natural curls drop. It does reduce frizz, however I haven't noticed it lasting 24hrs. You're supposed to apply this on towel dried hair and then either let your hair air dry or use a hair dryer to what I can assume 'activate' the balm. I've done both and there hasn't seemed to be a difference in the way my natural curls are defined. I have used this the night before going out where I would use a curing iron to make more defined curls. This didn't make ...

2010 Favourites

Thought I'd share some of my favourite things from 2010. GUESS 'Candy' Watch Arhhh I absolutley love this watch. I got it in both black and white thats how much I love em. These designs are from America and I got them off ebay, cause like all good things they don't come to Australia. We have a watch design that is similar but not  this . They are like a causal everyday watch, with a hint of glamour and thats what I like about them, they can dress up an outfit without making it look to flashy yet I can wear one everyday to whichever mood Im in. Garh I love to stare at them especially the white one as you can really see the mother of pearl back display. They come in a white cardboard slip on cover. This slips over the actual box that they are stored in. The watch box is a big (11x11x6cm) black square. The actual covering is plastic embossed to look like snakeskin with a silver 'Guess' imprint. When you open it up, not only is the warranty there but ...
